National Night Out - Tuesday, October 4

As a reminder, National Night Out is this Tuesday, October 4 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.  It is a chance to come out, visit with the neighbors, and enjoy the great weather!  If your block is pathetically quiet, feel free to grab your more social compadres and head over to the 2400 block of Park St. (between Fairview and Missouri) where you will find your Park Civic friends out with open arms, figuratively, and open grills, literally…and open wine, grudgingly.

June 30, 2011 meeting

Our next meeting will be June 30, 2011, 7PM, at Jake Goldstein and Amy Dinn’s house, 1608 Park St.  We’ll be discussing where we want to take Park Civic from here.  All residents are invited, members or not.

Citizens Patrol Forming

Meeting Schedule for 2010 (CORRECTED!)

Here’s our CORRECTED! 2010 meeting schedule. All are invited, members and non-members alike.

April 21, Wednesday, 7 PM, 1608 Park St, Jake Goldstein’s house. We’ll elect directors (it’s an easy job, if you’re thinking of getting involved).

Jul 28, Wednesday, 7 PM, 1608 Park St, Jake Goldstein’s house. We’ll plan the October Night Out.

Oct 27, Wednesday, 7 PM, (location pending). We’ll plan the December holiday party.

Christmas Party, Tues, Dec 8, 7PM

The Park Civic Christmas party will be Tuesday, December 8th from 7 PM - 9 PM at Steve McCathran’s home, 1905 Elmen.  Everyone is asked to bring either an appetizer or a dessert.  Dinner will be provided.  We’ll elect officers (nominations are still open; we need a President!), but this will mostly be a social occasion.

Please RSVP to Kay Kramer, who has graciously organized the party.  K_Kramer@swbell.net

Thank you to Steve, for hosting us.

Oct 29 meeting

We’ll meet Thursday night, Oct 29, at 7 PM, at 1608 Park St.  We’ll open nominations for December elections, and start planning the Christmas party.  Everyone is invited.

Night Out, Oct 6, Woodhead and Fairview, 7 PM

Texas is celebrating National Night Out on Tuesday, Oct 6 (the rest of the country celebrated it in August, but we’re Texas, and it’s hot in August, so we do it differently).  We’ll be meeting at the corner of Fairview and Woodhead, for some snacks and a chance to meet your neighbors.  Sherry Kelley’s Antiques is hosting us, and we thank her.   We’ll be there from 7 PM until 9 PM.  National Night Out is designed to strengthen neighborhoods, and raise awareness about crime prevention.  So please, turn your front porch lights on, and come out and join us.

Sept 17 meeting and elections; Oct 6, Night Out

Sept 17, 1608 Park St, 7PM: meeting to discuss Night Out, and to have elections to fill our vacant President and Secretary spots.  We will be accepting nominations at the meeting.  Terms run through December.  All are invited to the meeting (we promise only to elect volunteers, not draftees).

And Oct 6 will be Night Out, and we’ll be organizing a get-together, from 7 PM  to 9 PM.  We’re still firming up the location.  The idea is to get people out into the neighborhood together, to mingle, and to emphasize neighborhood anti-crime efforts.  Details will be in the newsletter, and posted here in the next two weeks.

August 6 meeting, and call for nominations for officers

Next meeting: Thursday, August 6, 7 PM, 1608 Park St.  We’ll discuss a September garage sale, plans for National Night Out, and we’ll take nominations for our open officer positions: President and Secretary.

If you’re interested in becoming an officer (the position only lasts until December, so it’s not a big commitment, in case you’re nervous about that), please come to the meeting at Jake Goldstein’s house on Thursday, and we can answer any questions you may have.  Elections will be at the September meeting, Thursday, September 17, 7 PM, at 1608 Park.

Next Meeting and Board Elections: Thu April 2, 2009

Our new 2009 officers are installed, and the next item of business is to elect some Board members at our Thursday, April 2, 2009 meeting.  We will accept nominations at the meeting, so if you’re looking for an easy way to get involved with improving your community, Board member is a great way: you run elections for the officers once a year, help throw the Christmas party, and offer guidance when you can.  You don’t have to atttend meetings unless you want to, and you don’t have to sit on committees unless you want to.

Meeting and Election: April 2, 2009, 7PM, at Jake Goldstein and Amy Dinn’s house, 1608 Park.   We’ll have some wine, and all are invited, members and non-members alike, candidates and just the mildly curious.

The new Park Civic Association officers are:

Karen Mulvey, President

Jake Goldstein, Vice President

Sue Edison, Treasurer

Steve McCathran, Secretary
